Tree Planting & Shelterbelts
Species chosen for zone 3 prairie conditions and planted properly — plus shelterbelt design and renewal for acreages and farms across southwest Saskatchewan.
The right tree, planted right, in prairie soil
Most young tree failures trace back to the first day: planted too deep, root ball left wrapped, or a species that was never going to survive a Swift Current winter. We plant at the correct depth with the root flare visible, and we choose species that handle zone 3 wind, drought, and alkaline prairie soil.
Shelterbelts are their own discipline. Rows planted across this region in the sixties and seventies are reaching the end of their lives, and renewal takes staging — new rows established before the old ones come out, so the yard is never left unprotected in between.
- Species selection — Zone 3 hardy, matched to your soil and exposure
- Correct planting depth — Root flare at grade, wire and burlap removed
- Shelterbelt design — Row spacing and species mix for real wind protection
- Shelterbelt renewal — Staged replacement without losing coverage
- Establishment guidance — Watering and mulch through the first three seasons
